MEDC serves as the economic development arm for Montrose by diversifying and strengthening the economy through the attraction, retention and expansion of primary employers. This includes working with start-up companies and entrepreneurs of all sizes. MEDC serves as a connector of resources to assist companies in their efforts to grow their businesses and create higher paying jobs.
Since the organization’s inception in 1957, successful recruitment efforts include companies such as Russell Stover Candies, Gordon Composites, and Colorado Yurt CO.
MEDC also works to enhance and strengthen the agriculture industry in the valley, including the development of the hemp industry.
Workforce development is a necessary part of a strong community. MEDC collaborates with Colorado Mesa State University and RE1-J School District to educate students and to train local workforce to meet the needs of existing companies and to recruit new companies that want to call Montrose home.
