[Ridgway CO | June 2021 | By Kathryn R. Burke ] We’ve come out of Covid starved for live entertainment. Ridgway is offering a full plate with unlimited refills. The creative district’s summer season overflows with live music, live theatre, art exhibits, literary presentations, films, virtual events, festivals…and more. All served up by Weehawken Creative Arts, the Sherbino, 610 Arts Collective and the Courtyard at 610.

That whole block, with the Colorado Boy Pub & Brewery at one end, alongside the  Sherbino and 610 Arts Collective, is a feast for all senses, offering something to be enjoyed inside or outside every day. The Courtyard at 610 has an impressive entertainment lineup, with more being added every time you check the list—which we keep up to date, right here, on the Silver Stage Arts & Entertainment section. And if you miss that, sign up for our newsletter.  We send out the highlights a couple times a month.

Current Exhibition. Karen Keene Day. “Moments with Wild Horses.” June 1-30, 2021

The 610 Arts Collective Gallery and Gift Shop, presents a new exhibition monthly. View art, visit the gift shop, relax on the 610 Sidewalk with an adult beverage (purchased inside the gallery) and small plate (ordered online with your phone).

First Fridays. If that’s still not enough, walk the streets on any “First Friday” (June – September) when stores stay open late and many eateries offer live music. At the 610 Arts Collective, pick up an adult beverage inside, take it out to one of the tables and, with your phone, order some food. (One of the benefits of Covid—and yes, there were some—is how we learned to make better use of our digital devices.) Ridgway’s next “First” Friday has been moved to July 6th, because of the 4th of July weekend.

Creative District. Ridgway is a designated “Creative District,” one of five small mountain towns, collectively known as the Colorado Creative Corridor. A great example of what this town, and others like it, can do to support the arts and foster local creativity, was the Féte de Musique, held on solstice weekend. Musicians from all genres and levels were invited to participate in the event, which was free to the public with performances happening at once all over town. The public was encouraged to bring cash to tip the artists and artists were also be given an honorarium. This to help musicians, who suffered during Covid when no gigs were allowed. And this is an example of how the arts community pulls together to supports its members.
