Music – Western Colorado. May-Sept. 2019
by Kathryn R. Burke
One of the best things about Western Colorado is music. Indoors or outdoors, we’ve got your music cravings covered.
Like cocktails with your concerts? Here are a few of our favorites: Horsefly, Remingtons, Intrinsik, The Listening Room, (all in Montrose, and often overlapping on Saturday nights); the Chipeta Rooftop Lounge, Sherbino Theater (in Ridgway, where various eateries may also offer live music); Paonia Brewing Company (Paonia).
Want to bring the kids, sit out on the lawn, enjoy the mountains with your music? From Silverton to the North Fork, the sweet sound of music fills the air. Free concerts: Montrose Summer Music series at the Black Canyon Golf Club, first Friday in June, July, August, and September; Ouray’s Mountain Air Music Series, at Fellin Park, Thursdays in June; Town of Ridgway’s Summer Music Series, at Hartwell Park, Thursdays in July.
Support a favorite cause with major concerts and fundraisers, including: Benefit Concert for the Boys and Girls Club featuring Little River Band, at the Bridges (June 29); Blue Sage Center for the Arts, Gala Fundraiser Concert (June 14); NightVision at Olathe Town Park (July 12 &13).
Have a preference for a certain type of music? Got that covered, too. Pick a venue and you’ll find everything from rock, folk, bluegrass, country, new age—to opera and chamber music—and everything in between. Summertime is Tunes Time in Western Colorado. See you out there!
