Stress & Your Body
Questions and Answers with Dr. Stephen Poges
Stephen W. Porges, Ph.D., world renowned psychologist and developer of the Polyvagal Theory will join us via Zoom on Saturday, February 13th at 5 pm. Dr Porges developed the Polyvagal Theory, a theory based on our body and how it reacts to stress.
The stress levels for all of us and especially older adults prompted the Blue Sage Center for the Arts to retain Dr. Porges with funds from a NextFifty Initiative grant. This event is a collaborative effort between the Blue Sage, the Grand Mesa Arts Center and the Montrose Center for the Arts.
A leading expert in developmental psychophysiology and developmental behavioral neuroscience, Porges is the mind behind the groundbreaking Polyvagal Theory, which has startling implications for the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, and autism. Adopted by clinicians around the world, the Polyvagal Theory has provided exciting new insights into the way our autonomic nervous system unconsciously mediates social engagement, trust, and intimacy.

He is the creator of a music-based intervention, the Safe and Sound Protocol ™ , which currently is used by more than 1400 therapists to improve spontaneous social engagement, to reduce hearing sensitivities, to improve language processing and state regulation.
